Position Overview
As COO, you will be responsible for overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations and ensuring that our systems, people, and processes are aligned with our strategic goals. You will work closely with the CEO and leadership team to scale the business, drive operational excellence, and support rapid growth in a highly regulated and competitive industry.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operational Leadership
- Lead company operations, including customer service, compliance, risk, partnerships, and payment operations.
- Translate strategic goals into actionable plans and ensure flawless execution across departments.
- Identify operational efficiencies, streamline workflows, and reduce costs while improving customer experience and scalability.
Financial & Performance Management
- Work with the CEO to manage operational budgets, forecasts, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Monitor and optimize unit economics, customer acquisition costs, and payment margins.
- Collaborate closely with Product and Technology teams to ensure operational readiness for new launches.
- Oversee the implementation of core payment infrastructure and integrations (e.g., card networks, wallets, banking APIs).
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, KYC/AML requirements, and data privacy laws across operating jurisdictions.
- Develop and maintain operational risk frameworks and business continuity plans.
People & Culture
- Build, lead, and mentor high-performing teams across operations and support functions.
- Champion a strong, performance-driven, and inclusive company culture.
- Manage key vendor relationships, including acquiring banks, payment processors, and third-party service providers.
- Negotiate and manage SLAs, pricing, and service-level performance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience (10+ years) in senior operations roles, preferably within fintech, digital banking, or payments.
- Deep understanding of the payments ecosystem, including cards, ACH, wallets, POS systems, and cross-border transactions.
- Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and project management skills.
- Familiarity with regulatory environments (e.g., FCA, PSD2, PCI-DSS Open Banking).
- Data-driven mindset with a focus on operational efficiency and scalability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience scaling operations in a startup or high-growth environment.
- Prior exposure to global payment networks and multi-jurisdictional compliance.
- MBA or similar advanced degree is a plus.
