Job description

The Company currently has a vacancy for a Chief Officer in its ERRV/MRV fleet.

Start Date: ASAP

Previous experience: on ERRV or similar vessel preferred.

Chief Officer Responsibilities:
  1. Deputising for the Master in their absence on board.
  2. Ensuring the safe navigation of the vessel during watch hours and the efficient running of the Deck Department. (This role may be delegated on certain classes of ship).
  3. Designating duties to additional crew members.
  4. Maintaining all marine safety equipment.
  5. Coordinating onboard firefighting response and overseeing all internal firefighting activities as required.
  6. Carrying out vessel inspections according to the Safety Inspection Programme and reporting all defects to the Chief Engineer.
  7. Investigating accidents, incidents, or near misses and providing detailed reports to the Master for onward transmission to the QHSE Department.
  8. Acting as the Shipboard Safety Officer (on ERRV; other vessels may delegate this role to other officers).
  9. Promoting and progressing the company's Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental Policy.
  10. Encouraging inter-departmental communication.
