A UK government organization seeks a Chief of Staff in London. This role requires a talented leader to provide strategic direction and administrative support to senior leadership while coordinating corporate priorities. Strong experience in senior decision-making and stakeholder engagement is essential. Ideal candidates will have knowledge of the NHS/public services.
We are the final stage for complaints about the NHS in England and public services delivered by the UK Government. We look into complaints where someone believes there has been injustice or hardship because an organisation has not acted properly or fairly or has given a poor service and not put things right.
Our service is free for everyone.
The PHSO are looking for a talented and driven leader to join our organisation as Chief of Staff, to work with the Chair and Chief Executive as they modernise our service and secure justice for citizens affected by public service failure. The Chief of Staff will co-ordinate and progress corporate priorities internally and externally, as well as providing strategic and policy advice to the organisation’s senior leaders. They will also run the Executive Office, which provides administrative support to the organisation’s senior leadership.
Candidates will have experience working at a senior level, and making decisions in complex and ambiguous environments. They will have significant experience influencing and negotiating with a variety of stakeholders, often in pressurised circumstances. They will also have managed an office, with line management and budget responsibility, and set up systems and processes to provide high-level administrative support. Ideally, they will have a strong knowledge of the NHS and/or the wider public services landscape.
Candidates will need to be able to think strategically, progress issues creatively, and cope with a wide-ranging and diverse workload. They will pro-actively build a strong network of contacts internally and across relevant external organisations.
