Job description

Citadel Source are delighted to be partnering on an exclusive basis with a private equity-backed SME to recruit a high-calibre Chief of Staff.

About the client

Citadel Source’s client is a rapidly developing, fast-growing business, growing both organically and via acquisition while maintaining an industry-leading quality and reputation. The coming years will play a big part in the exciting next phase of the organisation's journey, with significant growth across the sector and our client's ambitious value creation plan. Working closely with a highly experienced leadership team and investors, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain exposure to all aspects of the business, helping to shape strategic decisions and drive performance across the organisation.

The role

This role is really exciting and offers a unique opportunity for an ambitious qualified accountant to step beyond traditional finance and into a broader business leadership position. Acting as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Executive Team, the Chief of Staff will play a critical role in translating strategy into execution, ensuring key initiatives are delivered and helping the organisation maintain focus on the priorities that matter most. For accountants looking to broaden their experience, this role provides exposure to strategy, operations, commercial decision-making, board engagement and investor relations, making it an excellent platform for future leadership positions inside or outside of finance.

The successful candidate will work across all functions of the business, partnering closely with senior stakeholders to drive accountability, improve performance and support the delivery of the company's growth ambitions.

About you

The successful candidate will be a proactive, commercially minded qualified accountant with a genuine interest in how businesses operate beyond the numbers. You may currently be working in strategic finance, corporate finance or wider consulting, or a broad leadership role and be seeking an opportunity to gain wider exposure across strategy, operations and business performance.

The successful candidate will need to be comfortable managing multiple priorities, influencing senior stakeholders and balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution; they will need to be extremely organised, an excellent communicator and effective in influencing and prioritising information. The business benefits from an entrepreneurial culture where everyone takes responsibility for helping drive success. You will be comfortable working in this environment and happy to engage in this manner with all members of staff and support on multiple projects and priorities.

As Chief of Staff your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Acting as a trusted advisor and sounding board to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team
  • Supporting the delivery of the company's strategic plan and private equity value creation initiatives
  • Managing the Executive team's operating rhythm, including leadership meetings, strategic reviews, and business planning activities
  • Translating strategic objectives into clear actions, milestones, and measurable outcomes
  • Driving accountability across the organisation, ensuring agreed actions and priorities are delivered
  • Monitoring progress against key financial and operational KPIs, providing insight, challenge, and recommendations where appropriate
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning processes alongside the CFO and leadership team
  • Leading cross-functional projects and transformation initiatives across the organisation
  • Conducting commercial and financial analysis to support investment decisions, business cases, and strategic initiatives
  • Identifying risks, dependencies and operational challenges and coordinating actions to address them
  • Working closely with departmental leaders to improve visibility, communication, and organisational effectiveness
  • Establishing and enhancing governance, reporting, and performance management processes across the business
  • Acting as a central point of coordination for initiatives that span multiple functions and stakeholders
