Job description

Location: Commutable distance for either Bristol or London offices

Salary: competitive salary and excellent benefits.

Background:

Fathom is a leader in the water risk intelligence space, working at the forefront of climate data and the technology that helps users understand the impact of extreme flood events, now and in the future. Its data are used by leaders in engineering, finance (capital markets, asset management, CRE and ESG data providers), insurance, and the public sector, for everything from responding to regulation to developing disaster response, to developing profitable pricing strategies for policies and portfolios. Research also plays a huge part in who we are and what we do, with our scientific team publishing enough academic papers to rival a university. Our science-led, transparent approach is a genuine USP.

Fathom has a strong brand as the global leader in water risk intelligence.

Fathom was acquired by Swiss Re in December 2023, and has since worked with business units within the Swiss Re group to scale its profile globally and develop new product offerings for the (re)insurance markets and beyond. Fathom retains its operational independence and brand, taking on new challenges in markets such as capital markets, where understanding of its models and data is immature but growing fast. This is a really exciting time to work within the ever-changing, fast-paced climate risk space.

The role is permanent and full time. Fathom’s head office is in Bristol with a significant presence in the Gherkin, London. This role can be based in our Bristol or London offices as long as you are happy to travel to both. You will also enjoy occasional UK and International travel for media, partner and customer meetings, conferences and exhibitions. Key geographical markets are the US, Europe and APAC.

About the role:

We’re looking for a strategic and creative marketing leader with a strong track record of delivery to scale Fathom’s global presence during a pivotal stage of growth. Reporting directly to the CEO and working as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you’ll lead our marketing and communications function, continuing to build and lead a high-performing team and delivering a clear, data-driven strategy that elevates our brand, drives demand, and supports a growing sales function across international markets.

You’ll work cross-functionally with sales, product, customer success and communications to bring Fathom’s complex DaaS offering to life for a high-value, B2B audience. This includes creating impactful campaigns, turning scientific research into commercial narratives, and delivering structured, scalable GTM strategies.

You’ll shape our content and campaign calendars, strengthen partner marketing (including with Swiss Re and the platform providers), and ensure every activity (from product launches to events) advances our mission and commercial goals. You'll also work with our Customer Success team to champion the voice of the customer across the business, helping align our product roadmap with market needs.

This is a rare opportunity to join a profitable, purpose-driven company with an ambitious roadmap and the tools to scale rapidly. If you're excited to help lead a global brand at the forefront of climate risk intelligence, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

Strategic marketing leadership: Define and deliver a data-driven strategy that positions Fathom’s DaaS offering across multiple industries, aligning with commercial and brand goals and delivering quality lead generation.

Team building & leadership: Manage, grow, and lead a high-performing marketing team across product marketing, content, comms, and digital. The team is 7 people strong and includes the Head of Comms and Head of Digital and Marketing Operations, both responsible for their team’s strategy and budget.

Cross-functional collaboration: Act as the marketing voice across sales, product, and the senior leadership team - driving alignment on GTM, customer insights, and roadmap priorities.

Campaign & growth execution: Plan, launch, and optimize multi-channel campaigns that generate inbound activity and move prospects through complex, long sales cycles.

Partner & customer marketing: Develop marketing strategies with partners like Swiss Re and climate platform providers/data aggregators to nurture customer relationships and amplify success stories.

Brand & content: Translate cutting-edge science into clear, compelling narratives that reinforce Fathom’s brand and value proposition across all touchpoints.

Budget & performance management: Set KPIs, manage the marketing budget, and deliver regular reporting on marketing ROI, pipeline contribution, and team performance.

ABM & market insight: Apply ABM-like principles to target high-value accounts, conduct market and competitor analysis, and tailor messaging to industry and buyer needs.

Operational excellence: Bring structure, tooling, and experimentation to marketing operations, including campaign tracking, tech stack decisions, and scalable processes.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Marketing leadership experience in B2B environments, ideally with a focus on SaaS, DaaS, or complex data products.
  • Proven ability to build, scale, and lead high performing marketing and communications teams in a data-driven business (i.e. where data and data as a service are the end products).
  • Deep expertise in at least two areas of marketing (including demand generation), with a broad understanding across the function.
  • Creative, challenging and willing to be challenged - we operate a flat leadership structure where all voices are valued.
  • Track record of creating marketing and communication strategies that drive commercial impact, particularly in long-cycle, enterprise sales.
  • Highly analytical and comfortable with forecasting, measurement, and optimization based on data.
  • Strong grasp of modern tools and AI-driven approaches to content creation, campaign automation, audience targeting, and lead nurturing.
  • Experience developing GTM strategies and campaigns in close collaboration with sales and product teams.
  • Excellent communicator, capable of translating technical ideas into compelling, customer-centric messaging.
  • A builder's mindset: comfortable in a hands-on, fast-paced environment with a mix of strategy, execution, and experimentation.

Desirable

  • Experience having led revenue growth and delivered marketing strategies in new markets/geographies.
  • Passion for climate tech, data, or science-led businesses and a belief in the importance of our mission.
  • Direct experience working in capital markets: Investment banking, asset management, and financial services.
  • Direct experience of working within a complex corporate environment.
