Job Description

The Chief Marine Engineer is accountable to the RRPS Chief Engineer Mobile for the safety and fitness of purpose of NautIQ Solutions products.

Key Responsibilities include:

  1. Maintain product safety in accordance with Rolls-Royce policy and relevant legislation.
  2. Apply HSE compliance to products.
  3. Lead capability development and leadership of engineering teams across NautIQ Solutions UK.
  4. Manage knowledge management and intellectual property.
  5. Manage stakeholder relationships between engineering, technology & safety, and NautIQ Solutions.
  6. Support business capability and resource planning.

Essential qualifications:

  • Masters or Bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status in a relevant field.
  • Significant electrical engineering experience.
  • Ability to apply logical, analytical, and innovative thinking to technical problems and make balanced decisions in complex situations with incomplete information.
  • Proven experience in providing optimized design and functional solutions.
  • Understanding of process-driven product change control.
  • Experience in product lifecycle management.
  • Excellent working knowledge of relevant technical skills recognized in the field.

Desirable qualifications:

  • Proven domain knowledge and experience in naval or marine automation optimization.
  • Experience delivering systems compliant with naval and marine standards and safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of system design and functional domains to oversee engineering delivery.
  • Experience applying systems engineering approaches such as Robust Design, Black Belt, PELA, etc., and advocating for operational excellence and positive change.
