Job Overview:

The Chief Legal Officer (CLO) will serve as the organisation’s top legal advisor, overseeing all legal, regulatory, compliance, and risk-related matters across the UK and international operations. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CLO will provide strategic legal counsel, safeguard organisational integrity, and support growth initiatives by ensuring alignment with all applicable laws and governance standards.

This role is ideal for a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in corporate, employment, immigration, commercial contracts, and regulatory law — particularly within the healthcare, recruitment, or international staffing industries.

Responsibilities:

Advise the CEO and Board of Directors on legal, governance, and regulatory matters affecting the business.

Lead all legal strategy, risk management, and compliance functions across domestic and international operations.

Draft, review, and negotiate high-value contracts, client agreements, NDAs, partnership MOUs, and vendor terms.

Provide legal guidance on immigration policies (e.g., Skilled Worker Visas), GDPR, data privacy, and NHS framework compliance.

Oversee internal investigations, regulatory filings, and company secretarial functions.

Support dispute resolution, litigation management, and employment law matters.

Ensure compliance with corporate, commercial, financial, and healthcare sector regulations.

Liaise with external legal counsel, regulators, and government bodies where necessary.

Implement and manage the company’s legal risk register and compliance monitoring tools.

Design and deliver legal training and policy updates across the company.

Maintain company-wide policies on ethics, anti-bribery, whistleblowing, and professional standards.

Participate in strategic planning, mergers, partnerships, and corporate expansion.

Requirements:

Qualified solicitor or barrister in the UK (England & Wales) with at least 8–10 years of post-qualification experience.

Proven legal leadership experience at a senior level, preferably in the healthcare, staffing, immigration, or regulated services sectors.

Strong knowledge of UK corporate, employment, immigration, commercial, and GDPR laws.

Experience liaising with government regulators (e.g., Home Office, HMRC, ICO, CQC).

Excellent negotiation, analytical, and advisory skills.

Strategic mindset with business acumen and high ethical standards.

Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Proficiency in legal documentation systems and compliance software.
