An established (nearly 100 years), leading specialist, subcontract manufacturer to the Aerospace & Defence sectors. This company specializes in the subcontract manufacturing of Aerospace fine limit sheet metalwork and Precision CNC Machining (Prototyping and Subcontract Manufacturing), using various manufacturing methods such as CNC Laser Cutting, CNC Punching, CNC Routing, CNC Pressing and Forming, Fabrication, Welding, and Assembly, working with Aerospace grade materials. Approvals include AS 9100 D accreditation plus Nadcap, CAA, and AWS Welding. With a highly skilled workforce and state-of-the-art equipment, the company provides innovative manufacturing solutions to reduce customers' costs. Working with major Blue-Chip organizations, the company has a full and growing order book, with a loyal and committed global customer base. Job Profile

As the successful Chief Inspector, you will work alongside a friendly team of 3 in the Quality Department, responsible for inspection activities to ensure product and process quality are fully met. You should come from an Aerospace/Defence background, fully conversant with AS9100 and Nadcap, able to raise FAI reports, and capable of first-off inspection using traditional methods and CMM (Aberlink preferred).

Duties
  • Produce First Article Inspection Reports and support this with a CMM.
  • Provide roaming and final inspection for all products.
  • Inspect incoming goods from sub-contract suppliers.
  • Liaise with customers and suppliers on quality issues, queries, and non-conformances.
  • Raise Certificates of Conformity and delivery documentation.
  • Assist in calibrating external and internal equipment.
  • Raise sub-contract Purchase Orders on approved suppliers.
  • Check First Off production parts.
  • Liaise with all staff levels on quality and continuous improvement.
  • Support the development of a continuous improvement culture.
  • Maintain current approvals for AS9100 & Nadcap.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
Skills & Attributes
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Experience operating CNC CMMs (preferably Aberlink).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Provide leadership support when needed.
  • Report writing skills for FAIRs, NCRs, Certificates of Conformity, and delivery documentation.
Hours of Work
  • 37 hours per week over 4 days
  • Monday to Thursday, 7am-4.45pm
