Job summary

UK Atomic Energy Authority seeks a Chief Development Officer to lead business development, innovation and strategic industry relationships at executive level. You will drive exploitation of fusion IP and oversee a team of ~60 with a £60m budget, reporting to the CEO and serving on the Executive Committee.

You’ll shape long-term strategy, expand private-sector partnerships, and enhance the UK’s standing in fusion globally, with onsite presence and flexible working as needed.

Qualifications

• Proven strategic leadership experience with senior stakeholders.
• Experience developing and delivering organisational strategy at a senior level.
• Strong track record in fostering international collaborations.
• Experience exploiting intellectual property for commercial opportunities.
• Experience leading large and complex programmes (>£20m).

Responsibilities

• Shape UKAEA’s long-term strategy with the executive team.
• Lead business development and innovation across divisions and programmes.
• Develop relationships with private fusion companies, industry partners and government.
• Exploit fusion IP and identify commercial opportunities.
• Build strategic corporate relationships to access technology and resources.
• Lead BD activity to maximise private-sector income and opportunities.
• Represent UKAEA with government, industry, customers and stakeholders.
