Sussex & Brighton Strategic Authority is seeking a Chief Governance Officer / Monitoring Officer to shape the authority’s governance, accountability and assurance as it prepares for major changes in 2027–2028. Reporting to the Chief Executive and working with the Section 73 Officer, you will ensure legality, propriety and financial integrity while leading a directorate with a Deputy Monitoring Officer.

Responsabilités

• As Monitoring Officer you will be one of the Authority’s three statutory officers.
• You will report to the Chief Executive and work alongside the Section 73 Officer.
• You will share responsibility for the lawfulness, propriety and financial integrity of everything the Authority does.
• An established directorate with a Deputy Monitoring Officer means your time can focus on leadership rather than casework.
• You may be a serving Monitoring Officer or deputy, a chartered governance professional from health, policing, fire, higher education or an arm’s-length body, or central government accountability specialist.
• You will join our Leadership Team by right and help build a governance framework across the organisation.
