Job description
Overview

Chief Financial Officer / Financial Director position. Location: Recruiting within the TR, PL, TQ, EX and TA postcodes, across Taunton, Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay, and Truro. Salary: A GBP 750 per day. Vacancy Type: Contract, Part Time.

What’s the opportunity?

We are seeking a top-quality Chief Financial Officer / Finance Director who is looking for something different from a traditional corporate role. This role is suitable for independent CFOs, working or returning CFO parents seeking more flexibility and work-life balance.

You will provide CFO services to ambitious private businesses (typical turnover around A GBP 2.5M), supporting business owners to achieve their goals. You’ll be a self-starter with ambition, energy, and a can-do attitude, with a passion for helping clients—typically business owners, entrepreneurs, CEOs or MDs.

You will thrive on the challenge and autonomy of growing your own portfolio of clients, supported by a network of CFOs across the world. The organisation aims for clients with big dreams, and expects you to share that mindset.

Responsibilities
  • Build and manage a portfolio of client CFO engagements, delivering strategic financial leadership.
  • Provide commercially-focused financial oversight, planning, and advisory services.
  • Develop long-lasting relationships with clients, acting as part CFO, part advisor, part strategist, and part trusted partner.
  • Collaborate with Regional Directors and a team of CFOs/FDs in a collegiate environment.
What you need to have (Qualifications)
  • Qualified from one of the UK’s major chartered accounting institutes.
  • Proven real-life CFO/FD experience (at least once, twice, or multiple times).
  • Strong experience in commercial finance and business strategy with a track record of success.
  • Ability to build genuine, long-lasting client relationships.
How does it work?

The role is self-employed, operating within a defined model that combines team support with autonomy and freedom in delivering client outcomes. You will work with multiple clients, benefiting from flexibility and a portfolio-based approach.

Rather than simply providing solutions, you will learn to design and implement strategies that enable clients to achieve sustainable financial growth.
