Job description

We are recruiting an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join a growing organisation in the Isle of Wight / Southampton in a newly created role.

The CFO will oversee and manage the company's financial operations at a strategic level, including accounting, finance, forecasting, and strategic planning. If you enjoy strategic planning and providing commercial advice at board level in a company aiming for significant growth over the next five years, this could be an ideal position.

We seek an experienced CFO with a solid commercial background to lead on commercial matters and manage this expanding function.

This is a Board-level role, and the role holder will be appointed as a Companies House Director following successful probation.

Key responsibilities:
  • Develop a strategic financial plan to support the company's growth plans
  • Prepare financial statements and planning
  • Ensure accuracy and reliability of financial statements, working with external auditors
  • Ensure compliance with laws and develop policies accordingly
  • Oversee tax planning and compliance
  • Manage financial risks by overseeing budgets and analyzing data for risks
  • Implement monitoring and early warning systems
  • Oversee all financial reporting
  • Develop and implement the company's financial strategy aligned with its objectives

The CFO will also lead on commercial topics, including:

  • Managing commercial risk
  • Identifying and managing risks ongoing
  • Mitigating and reducing risks
  • Negotiating and managing contracts with suppliers, clients, and stakeholders
Experience required:
  • Experience managing finances in medium-sized companies with 50-100 million GBP turnover
  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, or related field
  • Professional certifications such as ACCA or CIMA
  • Familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Knowledge of UK Tax Law
  • Experience with multinational organisations is a plus
  • Experience in the defence sector is a plus
  • Strong leadership skills and team orientation

This role offers a salary of up to £110,000 plus extensive C-suite benefits, including pension and relocation packages if applicable.
