Exclusive to Trial Balance Consulting

Chief Finance Officer (CFO) - Plymouth - Exceptional Six-Figure Package, Profit-Related Bonus, EMI Scheme + Executive Benefits

Not all CFO opportunities are created equal. Many are operational Finance Director roles, but this is a true CFO position – a genuine career and life-changing opportunity. These are the assignments that make a finance recruiter’s work worthwhile.

Trial Balance Consulting is exclusively engaged by a rapidly growing business, a Series-B startup with significant external investment, projecting £20M turnover and £9M EBITDA in the first year of trading.

The company:

A revolutionary renewables business attracting global investor attention, with secure, long-term partnerships and an impressive UK client portfolio. Led by an experienced board, the company is poised to lead an untapped market.

Having nearly quadrupled in size over the past year, the company now seeks an experienced and ambitious CFO to join their executive team.

The role:

As a board-level executive working closely with the CEO and team, the CFO will have a strategic, commercially focused role. The current finance team is small but efficient, led operationally by an experienced Head of Finance. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic financial leadership and managing the company’s financial health
  • Full capital management, funding negotiations, and strategic partnerships
  • Leading capital raising initiatives
  • Developing and maintaining investor relations
  • Leading on CLNs
  • Ensuring sound financial reporting and compliance
  • Developing FP&A systems, processes, and controls
  • Managing risks through budgets and forecasts
The person:

The ideal candidate is a professionally qualified (ACA/ACCA) individual with CFO-level experience or a seasoned Finance Director seeking a strategic role with investor engagement. Experience in the renewables sector is advantageous but not essential. Experience with IPOs would be highly beneficial.

The successful candidate will have exceptional financial acumen, proven strategic management experience, and leadership skills to motivate a growing team. Strong relationship-building skills are essential.
