The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) is one of the largest ambulance services in the UK, serving a population of around 6.2 million people across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk, and Cambridgeshire. With over 5,000 staff and 1,200 dedicated volunteers, we provide 24/7 emergency and urgent care services, as well as non-emergency patient transport, to communities that range from bustling urban areas to tranquil rural retreats. We are an organisation that touches lives every day, and we are committed to delivering outstanding care, fostering innovation, and building a sustainable future.
We are seeking a Chief Finance Officer (CFO) to join our Board at a pivotal time in our journey. This is a significant opportunity to play a key role in shaping the Trust’s future, ensuring the highest standards of financial governance, and supporting our ambition to deliver exceptional care to the communities we serve. As CFO, you will provide strategic leadership across finance, performance, business intelligence, contracting, and estates, ensuring the financial sustainability and operational excellence of the Trust.
We are particularly interested in candidates with extensive experience in financial leadership within large, complex organisations, preferably in the NHS or a closely related sector. Your track record and skills will be invaluable as we work to enhance financial sustainability, drive performance improvement, and develop progressive business intelligence capabilities. You will work closely with the unitary board to deliver on our overall strategic objectives, ensuring we deliver on our ambitions while maintaining robust governance and sustainability.
This role affords the opportunity to make a tangible difference in a significant executive post. You will help us shape our new 2025–2030 strategy, which focuses on four key missions: delivering outstanding care for our patients, building strong partnerships, investing in our people, and ensuring productivity and sustainability. You will also play a vital role in promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring our financial strategies align with our commitment to serving all communities equitably.
We are looking for a CFO who shares our values and mission. You will bring a proven track record of leading financial strategy, delivering financial sustainability, and ensuring robust financial governance in a large-scale organisation. We are interested in your transferable skills and fresh perspective with a strong underpinning of financial leadership.
We welcome applications from diverse candidates who share our values and ambition. We're committed to building an inclusive team and encourage applications from individuals who will bring unique perspectives and experiences. This is a significant and impactful Board opportunity, and if your values and ambition match ours and the opportunity to join our Board attracts you, then we very much look forward to hearing from you.
