Job Title: Chief Executive Officer
Contract / Hours: Permanent / Full-time
Salary: Salary and package details can be discussed with Macaulay Search (see below)
Location: Hybrid. The CEO role will be based in the UK. If being based in the UK is not possible immediately, then the CEO will spend significant time in the UK until able to relocate.

Tearfund has a huge vision: to see all people freed from poverty, living transformed lives and reaching their God-given potential. This includes moving from crisis to resilience, experiencing economic and environmental sustainability, and being reconciled, peace-filled societies. We see this vision being achieved through the local church. Our aspiration is to equip 250,000 churches to be centres of transformation for their communities, helping millions experience fullness of life in all dimensions, and seeing the kingdom of God come here on earth.

We are at the exciting start of a new season. We are looking for a Chief Executive Officer, gifted to mobilise churches into partnership with each other, realising God's call to be salt and light, and catalysing transformational action in communities around the world. The postholder will be making strategic decisions in a volatile global context, as we act as an effective, servant-hearted partner of local churches in their mission to their communities.

  • Our CEO will have an inclusive global outlook and lead Tearfund through inspirational spiritual leadership and visionary qualities.
  • They will be a clear and compelling communicator to the church and the wider world.
  • They will help raise and wisely invest the funds needed to deliver our mission.
  • As a transformational leader, they will partner with the Board and Executive Team to discern the steps, sequencing, and pace of our journey.

Most importantly, the CEO will be a devoted follower of Jesus, full of God's compassion for those living in poverty, committed to the agency of the local church, and gifted with wisdom and discernment to steward Tearfund's impact within the ever-changing context of our work.

Finalist candidates will be invited to participate in a two-way discernment process, including discussions with Tearfund leaders, psychometric assessments, pastoral and professional references, and further interviews.

Final in-person interviews will take place in London on 9/10 June.
