Carers of East Lothian is the local organisation supporting adults who care for family and friends. We have an excellent reputation, recently gaining recognition through the Carers Trust ‘Excellence for Carers’ Award, and have recently secured the contract to deliver adult carer services across East Lothian for an initial two-year period and a total period of up to six years, to 2031. Chief Executive Officer (28 hours per week)

To provide strategic, organisational and team leadership for Carers of East Lothian ensuring that the organisation:

  • provides a high quality support that makes a real and positive difference in carers’ lives;
  • operates in an efficient and effective manner and complies with all relevant legal requirements;
  • has the resources necessary to continue to prosper;
  • is aware of and manages risks; and
  • is an effective advocate for carers in both local and national planning and policy decision making.

VOCAL - Voice of Carers Across Lothian - seeks an enthusiastic and experienced Carer Support Practitioner to join its busy team to provide casework support to carers, with a specific focus on South East Edinburgh. The postholder will support unpaid carers to access person-centred support for their caring situation, health and wellbeing and personal development.

VOCAL is a carer-led organisation and provides a wide range of services to support unpaid carers in their caring role. The postholder will be expected to work as part of a team, improve outcomes for carers and maximise uptake of VOCAL services.

Applicants will evidence excellent people, and communication skills, casework and person-centred support work. Applicants will also demonstrate awareness of the diverse range of caring situations, the impact of caring on peoples’ lives and barriers carers face at different points of the caring journey. Good working knowledge of health and social care will be expected.

The postholder will be based in the South East of the City and at VOCAL Carers’ Hub, 60 Leith Walk

The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS) has been connecting people around the world through the joy of Scottish Country Dancing for over 100 years. With a vibrant global membership, the RSCDS promotes health, friendship, and culture by inspiring people of all ages to dance.

RSCDS events — from the flagship Summer School in St Andrews to the popular Winter School in Pitlochry — bring together hundreds of dancers and musicians from around the world. These events are key moments in the Scottish cultural calendar and vital to the organisation’s financial sustainability.

As part of an exciting period of development, RSCDS is now looking for an Events & Marketing Manager to lead on the planning and delivery of major events, drive marketing and social media activity, and promote Scottish Country Dancing to new and existing audiences.

This is a unique opportunity for a creative and organised professional to take centre stage, both behind the scenes and at events. You will lead on all aspects of event delivery — from venue management and contract negotiation to on-site hosting — as well as oversee digital communications and social media campaigns. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will also line manage the Graphic Design and Website Officer and work closely with volunteers, members, teachers, and performers.

The successful candidate will have experience in event management and marketing, with strong social media and communication skills. You’ll need to be outgoing, approachable, and confident in representing RSCDS in person and online. While knowledge of Scottish Country Dancing is not essential, an enthusiasm for its community spirit is important.

This is a role full of variety and challenge, with occasional evening and weekend work, as well as three weeks’ residential attendance at Summer School and one week at Winter School. In return, RSCDS offers the chance to work with a passionate team, travel to unique events, and play a key role in shaping the future of a much-loved cultural organisation.

Glasgow Council on Alcohol (GCA) aims to reduce alcohol and drug related harm, and risk of harm, at an individual and community wide level, through a long-term, asset-based approach to changing the culture of alcohol and drug use. It does this by delivering a range of interventions and services such as alcohol counselling, alcohol brief interventions (ABIs), employability support and groupwork as well as delivering a comprehensive training portfolio, including Addiction Awareness, COSCA Counselling Skills and a Diploma in Integrative Counselling.

GCA has been delivering specialised trauma informed alcohol counselling since 1965 to support those drinking at harmful and hazardous levels and who wish to make a positive change. The counselling approach is integrative and aims to address the presenting alcohol problem but also work with the inevitable accompanying life problems related to it. In our experience around 65% of individuals who access GCA will not have engaged with statutory services or recovery communities. GCA services have expanded to include a range of holistic services to support individuals in recovery from drugs and/or alcohol. Services we provide include; counselling, wellbeing support, a women’s only service for survivors of gender-based violence, and an LGBT health and wellbeing service. Currently GCA delivers services in Glasgow, East Dunbartonshire and East Renfrewshire.

We are looking to expand membership of our Board of Directors, to develop the strategic direction, support the aims and objectives and ensure good governance. If you can devote the time and are motivated to assisting us we would welcome your application.

Fly Cup Enterprise Ltd is seeking an exceptional candidate with strong leadership experience to become its Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

As CEO, you will consolidate and build on recent growth while ensuring the charity delivers its objectives to provide high quality training and employment opportunities, through catering and hospitality, for adults with learning disabilities, learning difficulties and other vulnerabilities.

You will act as the public face of the charity, work with and advise the Board of Directors in relation to the business activities and oversee the management and administration of the charity.

Our new Chief Executive will be an accomplished communicator, able to build and sustain effective partnerships, and build our profile with a wide range of stakeholders. As a strategic thinker, you will bring a track record of successful leadership and be able to promote a culture of ideas, innovation and have the ability to translate strategic plans into reality. You will have an accomplished record of delivering outstanding performance and have a proven ability to secure new income streams.

We are open to leaders from any background or sector, although experience in the not-for-profit sector would be helpful. You must share our commitment to supporting adults and young people with additional support needs.
