Job summary
Chief Executive in Common / Group Chief Executive Designate for Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust and The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust
Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust and The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust provide community, acute and specialist services to over half a million people across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, the Black Country and mid Wales. Our two Trusts are working closely in partnership and we are committed to progressing further as we explore an NHS Group model; aligning to the new Governments three shifts and creating a system that improves health outcomes and reduces health inequalities for our communities. We collectively employ around 9,000 staff, and benefit from over 300 dedicated volunteers with a combined income of £850m.
Following the appointment of Andrew Morgan as our Chair in Common, we are now seeking to appoint our first Chief Executive in Common to lead both organisations as we seek to transform local care together with our communities. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our health services as, we deliver our Hospital Transformation Programme; a fully approved £312m project that is allowing us to reconfigure our services and develop state of the art facilities. This is a challenging role; our health economy has faced significant financial challenge and loss of public confidence given historic failings in some of our services.
Main duties of the jobWe are seeking an inspirational Chief Executive; proven in leading large and complex organisations and with a track record of creating inclusive and empowering cultures. As our new leader you will be comfortable with high levels of national political scrutiny and public accountability; you will thrive as a system leader; quickly building trust and confidence with our boards, staff, patients and partners - creating a clear vision and hope for the future. This is a unique opportunity for our health and care services and for an exceptional individual to lead two Trusts as we shape sustainable services in both our community and hospital settings; improving outcomes and reducing inequalities for our populations.
