Job description

Theatr Brycheiniog, nestled in the spectacular landscape of the Bannau Brycheiniog / Brecon Beacons in Mid Wales, is looking for an exceptional leader — someone with vision, resilience and commercial drive — to help shape the next chapter in our transformation.

This is a rare opportunity to lead a much-loved cultural institution into a vibrant and sustainable future; one where creativity thrives, people connect, and where the arts and culture play a vital role in the lives of our communities.

We’ve already laid strong foundations:

  • A £2 million capital upgrade has revitalised our venue.
  • A new 25-year lease secures our place in the heart of the community.
  • Our Interim Director has streamlined our structure, strengthened programming, and opened new income streams.

Now, we’re ready to take the next step — and we’re looking for someone to lead that charge; someone who can turn vision into action, who’s ready to reimagine what a theatre can be, not just as a venue, but a creative hub, a civic space, and a cultural home for all.

You’ll bring:

  • Established leadership record with resilience and strategic vision
  • Extensive senior-level experience within the arts or charitable sector
  • Strong financial acumen and a track record of successful fundraising
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with drive and creative energy
  • Proven ability to lead innovation and inspire transformative change
  • A commitment to team empowerment, development, and organisational growth
  • Demonstrated success in delivering meaningful change within the arts or charity landscape
  • A passionate advocate for the arts and their power to enrich and transform lives

We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive organisation. We welcome applications from people with lived experiences of disability and neurodiversity, socio-economically marginalised communities and from the global majority.

If you’re a bold, imaginative and driven leader looking to make a real impact – and do it all in one of the most beautiful places in the UK – we’d love to hear from you.
