Job summary

Matchtech Group is supporting a well-funded aerospace and defence start-up in London to appoint a Chief Engineer who will lead the technical delivery of a flagship programme from concept through to testing and operational deployment.

You will be the senior technical authority, shaping the technical vision, architecture and engineering culture while working with founders, customers and investors. Equity is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline with strong systems thinking.
• Significant experience leading multidisciplinary teams across complex programmes.
• Proven track record delivering concept to deployment in aerospace/defence or safety-critical domains.

Responsibilities

• Act as the overall technical authority for the programme.
• Define and own the technical strategy, roadmap, and system architecture.
• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team across systems, software, electronics, mechanical design, integration, test and platform engineering.
• Establish engineering standards, processes, governance and best practices.
• Drive technical decisions balancing performance, cost, risk, schedule and manufacturability.
• Chair design reviews and provide technical oversight throughout the product lifecycle.
• Ensure delivery from concept through design, integration, verification, validation and testing.
• Manage technical risk and interface with customers, suppliers and stakeholders.
• Support growth, business development and strategic customer engagements.
• Align technical delivery with business goals and programme milestones.
