A Chief Engineer will lead the Engineering Team to maintain all hotel operations, ensuring safety, security, conservation, and compliance at the highest standards.

What will I be doing?

  • Lead the Engineering Team in daily engineering and maintenance operations, including service standards and work schedules
  • Coordinate with Housekeeping to prioritize maintenance activities in guest rooms and public areas
  • Develop systems to ensure the safety of guests and team members, and proper conditions for equipment and property
  • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations through communication with government agencies
  • Prepare budgets for Capital and Repairs & Maintenance
  • Perform daily checks around the hotel
  • Conduct lift emergency release procedures as required
  • Diagnose, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment
  • Build good relationships with internal and external customers
  • Maintain hotel fixtures and fittings, addressing unsafe conditions promptly
  • Develop and implement emergency and energy conservation programs
  • Oversee renovation projects, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness
  • Manage special projects and environmentally-friendly systems
  • Monitor KPIs for the department and implement improvements
  • Handle all team member activities, including recruitment, performance management, and training

What are we looking for?

  • Advanced knowledge of building management/engineering
  • A degree in Engineering or related field
  • Experience with budgeting and basic accounting
  • Positive attitude and good communication skills
  • Commitment to high customer service standards
  • Strong leadership and team management experience
  • Excellent grooming standards
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and ability to work under pressure
  • Facilities management experience
  • Proficiency in relevant computer programs

Preferred additional qualifications include:

  • First Aid certification
  • Engineering qualification
