The Opportunity

We are seeking an exceptional Chief Credit Risk Officer (CCRO) to lead and innovate our credit risk function. This is a newly created strategic role reporting directly to the CEO, with a mission to ensure sustainable, responsible growth while maintaining the integrity of our loan book. You’ll oversee underwriting, collections, and credit risk analytics, driving efficiency and financial inclusion at scale.

  • Oversee the identification, assessment, and mitigation of credit risk while growing the customer base and maintaining profitability.
  • Develop, implement, and refine credit risk models, policies, and scorecards to optimise lending decisions.
  • Continuously monitor financial metrics and loan book performance indicators to identify risks and opportunities.
  • Lead collections strategies, ensuring a strong feedback loop to refine credit risk assessment.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including credit file reporting and data protection policies.
  • Own the end-to-end customer journey from application through to loan repayment or termination.
  • Provide insightful reporting on credit risk data to the CEO, Board, and external stakeholders.
  • Champion the use of technology to drive automation and efficiency in credit decisioning and collections.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define risk appetite and align strategies with overall business objectives.

What We’re Looking For

  • Extensive experience in lending, banking, or credit risk, with at least three years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven credit risk management expertise, including regulatory compliance & fintech lending strategies
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage teams and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Experience in scaling businesses and navigating the challenges of a rapidly evolving financial landscape.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A commitment to social impact, with a passion for financial inclusion.
