Job Description:

Job overview

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) is seeking a Chief Clinical Information Officer (CCIO) to lead digital transformation across our integrated mental health, community and specialist services.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of patient care at the heart of one of the UK’s most dynamic health ecosystems, working alongside world-class academic, clinical, and digital partners.

The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on clinical practice. You will champion clinically-led digital innovation, ensure safe and inclusive digital solutions, and act as a trusted advisor to the Board. You’ll also help drive system-wide digital collaborations.

We welcome applications from senior clinicians (medical or non-medical) with strong informatics leadership experience and a commitment to improving patient outcomes through technology, data, and co-designed innovation.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will undertake regular clinical duties equivalent to Programmed Activities (PAs) for a consultant or Whole Time Equivalent (WTE) for non-medical staff.

The clinical component will be tailored to the candidate’s background and professional interests, and agreed with the relevant Clinical Director and the Chief Medical Officer. Clinical work may be undertaken in mental health, physical health, or specialist services.

The post holder must be clinically competent and professionally registered (GMC specialist register, NMC, HCPC) and meet Trust standards for revalidation, CPD, supervision, and appraisal. The clinical component is substantive, not honorary, and the post holder is expected to deliver direct patient care.
