Overview
The Cardiology Department is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Cardiac Physiologist to join our Team. The role will rotate across our sites at Milton Keynes University Hospital and Lloyds Court Community Diagnostic Centre. With this expansion we are gaining additional Echo machines and software to enhance your skills. We are seeking a fully autonomous echocardiographer with the desire to contribute with new ideas to further expand our service with high quality and effective care.
The postholder will provide specialist professional expertise while acting as a resource within the technical cardiology service at Milton Keynes University Hospital and Community Diagnostic Centre. Opportunities to explore other physiologist services (Holter and/or Devices) can be provided depending on experience.
Responsibilities
- Independently perform and report adult transthoracic echocardiograms.
- Support training for non-accredited Physiologists and Cardiology Registrars, supervising practical sessions.
- Assist with bubble studies and stress echocardiograms.
- Contribute towards Echo service development.
- Analyse ambulatory monitors providing factual reports that impact clinical management.
- Provide cross-cover to other areas of the technical service as needs dictate.
- Develop and implement protocols for working with individuals, families, communities and other professionals.
- Promote a multi-disciplinary approach to Cardiac Care, valuing the expertise of other disciplines.
- Support the departmental manager in introducing measures to actively manage and reduce risk to patients; ensure formal reporting and recording of adverse incidents in line with Trust policy.
- Actively develop and contribute to relevant audit programmes, raising the profile and contribution of Physiologists to this process.
- Perform standard and complex investigations as requested by clinicians and provide comprehensive written reports when necessary.
- Monitor and respond to changes in patients’ clinical status; deliver appropriate and individualised patient care at all times.
- Operate at independent practitioner level in echocardiography with timely, accurate reports.
- Lead Physiologist-led Valve Clinics (training can be provided) and participate in weekly Echo MDTs and Echo teaching sessions.
- Support with IP and OP TTE referral triage, following internal guidance based on BSE recommendations.
- Provide cross-site coverage and contribute to service development with new ideas.
- To promote a multi-disciplinary approach and collaborate with other professionals in line with trust values.
- Any other technical duties commensurate with the grade and scope of the post.
Requirements and Benefits
- Band 7 salary range £46,148 - £52,809 per annum (plus 12% RRP).
