Qualifications

  • Experience performing and reporting adult transthoracic echocardiograms to BSE standards.
  • Hold a full UK driving license.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.

We are currently looking for an experienced Chief Cardiac Physiologist to provide overall support for the clinical leadership of the service. This position is based in Weston-Super-Mare, which is easily accessible via public transport.

About the role:

As a Chief Cardiac Physiologist, you will be proficient with BSE reporting guidelines, providing a safe and welcoming clinical environment for patients. You will have the opportunity to mentor and support trainee physiologists and be involved in our clinical audit programme.

Your main responsibilities as a Chief Cardiac Physiologist:

  • Perform and report adult trans-thoracic echocardiograms in line with BSE minimum data set and local reporting guidelines
  • Provide expert clinical guidance via our second opinion rota, ensuring adherence to reporting guidelines during peer-review
  • Ensure quality assurance checks on equipment and take appropriate actions
  • Submit reports and archive study images according to contractual requirements and local SOP
  • Liaise with hospital departments and GP practices for urgent referrals
  • Support patient bookings and maintain patient information systems

What we are looking for in a Chief Cardiac Physiologist:

  • Experience performing and reporting adult transthoracic echocardiograms to BSE standards
  • Hold BSE (or equivalent) certification
  • A full UK driving license
  • Understanding of Data Protection Act, Information Governance, and Caldicott Principles
  • Willingness to embrace new technologies and ideas
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
