Job summary

Goodman Masson are partnering with a social housing provider to appoint a Head of Building Safety & Compliance on a permanent basis in Birmingham. You will lead the strategic direction and governance for building safety across a large housing portfolio, ensuring all statutory, regulatory and health and safety requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Senior-level experience in building safety, fire safety or property safety.
• Experience within social housing or regulated environments preferred.
• Proven track record leading multi-disciplinary compliance teams.
• Strong governance, assurance and regulatory reporting skills.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement with regulators and executives.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver Building Safety and Compliance Strategy aligned with regulations.
• Provide assurance on compliance performance to senior leaders and the board.
• Oversee statutory compliance across gas, electrical, fire, asbestos, water hygiene, lifts and CDM.
• Ensure compliance with Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Act and health and safety laws.
• Lead investigations into incidents and regulatory concerns with remedial action.
• Manage budgets, contracts and external technical providers.
• Maintain robust compliance systems, data processes and reporting for audit readiness.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen risk management and safety culture.
• Lead, develop and motivate a specialist team.
