Chief Architect

The Chief Architect is responsible for defining and driving the architectural vision enabling CME’s business strategy. The Chief Architect will bring together enterprise and domain architecture vision to enable business strategy and continue to transform a leading financial services institution.

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Lead a team of architects at the Enterprise and Domain levels. Provide matrix leadership to Security Architects.
2. Lead the creation and execution of IT architecture roadmaps.
3. Develop and maintain current and target state architecture for use across applications, domains, and portfolios.
4. Foster alignment of technical decisions with business strategy.
5. Create and deliver Architecture Patterns & Architecture as Code (AAC) to accelerate time to market and improve efficiency.
6. Maintain Enterprise technology capability mapping.
7. Identify emerging technologies that may represent opportunities or threats to CME. Ensure that CME Group remains current on technology stacks and that novel ideas are investigated through utilization of Proof of Concepts (PoC’s) & Capability Mining on emerging concepts.
8. Ensure completion of rigorous due diligence of technologies and vendors.
9. Provide technical and thought leadership throughout CME Group.
10. Regularly review deployed solutions to ensure compliance to reference architectures, defined patterns and drive resolution of any gaps.
11. Coordinate technical integration of new technologies with CME’s existing technical ecosystem.

Background/Experience:

1. 15+ years IT Experience.
2. 5+ years experience with Financial industry experience.
3. GCP or AWS Certifications.

Skills/Abilities:

1. Deep understanding of IT architectural principles, including enterprise, solutions, and technical architecture.
2. Experience in building, architecting, designing, implementing highly distributed global cloud-based systems, network infrastructure, security, and application development.
3. Experience with on-premise-to-cloud migration deployments/roadmaps.
4. Experience with technical environments incorporating a wide range of technologies such as cloud computing, microservices, DevOps, ultra low latency systems, machine learning/Artificial Intelligence, data architecture, and cybersecurity.
5. Experience with standard IT security practices (e.g., identity and access management, data protection, encryption, certificate and key management).
6. Proficient in interpreting and complying with financial industry regulations.
7. Ability to develop and effectively champion an architectural vision, securing commitment at all levels of the organization.
8. Familiar with Agile Methodologies.
9. Exceptional ability to lead, coach, mentor, and develop technical talent.
10. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain credibility with technical teams and stakeholders, including at the C-Suite level.
11. Ability to lead with a collaborative mindset dedicated to transparency and servant leadership.

The pay ranges for this role based on location are: Chicago: $209,500-$349,100 New York/New Jersey: $209,500-$349,100. Actual salary offered will be dependent on a wide array of factors including but not limited to: relevant experience, skills, education, and comparison to internal employees (where relevant).
