Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking an ASC Teaching Assistant for a Chester specialist school, starting September on a long-term basis. You will assist pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition and challenging behaviour, delivering tailored interventions and promoting positive behaviour in a safe, engaging classroom.

The successful candidate will work with experienced staff to support pupils in their academic, social and emotional development.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children and young people with ASC.
• Advanced knowledge of working with pupils with ASC and challenging behaviour.
• Experience within a specialist education or SEND setting.
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.

Responsibilities

• Deliver tailored interventions and promote positive behaviour strategies for pupils with ASC.

The school is looking to appoint a full‑time ASC Teaching Assistant from September on a long‑term basis. The successful ASC Teaching Assistant will work alongside experienced teaching staff to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and complex behavioural needs, delivering tailored interventions, promoting positive behaviour strategies and helping pupils to access learning in a safe, engaging and supportive classroom environment.

The successful ASC Teaching Assistant will have:

• Experience supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
• Advanced knowledge of working with pupils with ASC and challenging behaviour
• Experience within a specialist education or SEND setting
• Strong behaviour management and communication skills
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
