Qualifications

  • Experience or knowledge of hazardous waste is preferred.
  • Valid manual driving license required.
  • COSHH and health & safety understanding is preferable.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and record customers' chemical/hazardous waste safely.
  • Package and label waste in compliance with regulations.
  • Safely drive collection vehicles to customer sites.

What you'll be doing;

Safely assess and record customers' chemical / hazardous waste on their premises.

Package and label waste in compliance with environmental and transport regulations (Full training will be provided)

Collect the waste from customer sites and ensure the safe transportation in accordance with road transport and hazardous waste regulations as well as company procedures.

Safely drive collection vehicles to and from customer sites in order to carry out your responsibilities.

Ensure all waste transfer documentation is present, accurate and completed correctly.

Reference safety information and material safety data sheets to ensure compliance.

Use Veolias IT systems to generate documentation, assess waste, print labels and, when required, generate quotes.

Complete technical assessment of waste. (Full training will be provided)

Handle all waste safely and in line with company procedures and health and safety legislation.

On occasion, pump, decant or re-package compromised containers.

To assist with Transfer Station Chemist duties on site when required.

Ensure compliance with the requirements of transporting dangerous goods. (Full training will be provided)

Provide technical advice to customers and sample waste when required.

Comply with all customer site rules.

Foster strong customer relationships.

When suitably experienced, provide basic mentoring to new starters.

Maintain adequate stock levels of routine supplies

Perform other reasonable duties as requested by management.

What we're looking for;

A science-based degree of HND or equivalent qualification ideally in Chemistry

Knowledge and/or experience of hazardous waste

It is preferable for candidates to also have COSHH and health and safety understanding

As the role is mobile, candidates must hold a valid manual driving licence, and be comfortable driving a 3.5t van

Good communication skills and the ability to build rapport with customers are essential
