Contract Type: Part Time (22.5 hours per week), Permanent

Location: Kingston upon Thames, Kingston International Study Centre

Salary: Up to £23,763.35 per annum (£39,605.58 FTE)

The Chemistry Tutor will deliver high-quality chemistry classes (theory and laboratory practicals) at Foundation (FHEQ Level 3) at Kingston International Study Centre (ISC). The post holder will be a competent subject practitioner in Chemistry, with experience in teaching students to A-level chemistry standards.

The post holder will play a key role in contributing to the development of teaching materials and formative assessment and will be expected to empower students to reach the level they need to progress into university by providing student-centred, engaging, and innovative learning, as well as undertaking marking and providing feedback to students on formative and summative assessments.

About the Role
  • Lead on the design, development, and delivery of Kingston University ISC chemistry module.
  • Prepare and deliver teaching, seminar, and support sessions, with a normal teaching load of up to 25 hours per week.
  • Write and prepare chemistry examinations and other forms of formative and summative assessment.
  • Mark students’ assessment submissions and provide timely feedback, including writing termly reports and tutorials.
  • Develop and update course material for units and teaching sessions, including the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
  • Work with the Centre’s administration team in the delivery of induction, orientation, and registration programs.
  • Implement quality assurance procedures at module and session levels and contribute to course review processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance.
  • Participate in departmental and Centre meetings, contributing to program management and student life cycle.
  • Attend all compulsory meetings as part of university governance.
About You
  • A bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related subject (Essential)
  • A relevant Teaching Qualification (Desirable)
  • Fluent spoken and written English (Essential)
  • Teaching experience in chemistry at secondary, further, or higher education, preferably with international students at FHEQ Levels 3 and 4 (Essential)
  • Ability to develop and update teaching material, with experience working within a Virtual Learning Environment (Essential)
  • Competence in teaching and administrative IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, etc.)
