Job description

ChampionX is hiring a Chemist (Hydrates) in Aberdeen, UK on a temporary basis.

Oil and gas production faces technical challenges that can be addressed with production chemicals. Our research and development team creates chemical and engineering solutions by replicating conditions in the lab. The candidate will develop innovative solutions using our test equipment and troubleshoot application methods based on field data.

What You Will Do:
  • Provide laboratory testing/analysis and apply the findings in oil and gas production systems.
  • Develop novel products for deployment in the field in addition to new testing methodologies for both in-field monitoring and laboratory analysis.
  • Gain exposure to multiple disciplines when looking for solutions to problems, with potential career development into adjacent product lines such as wax, asphaltenes, gas hydrates, H2S scavengers, etc.
  • Participate in conferences and industry events to present novel research.
  • Conduct laboratory tests to complete project requests.
  • Communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
  • Assist with product development and screening.
  • Write technical reports and manage databases.
  • Learn about ChampionX product applications.
  • Provide field support remotely or onsite.
  • Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of lab sites.
  • Keep calibration records for equipment.
  • Follow company safety practices, including COSHH and risk assessments.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BSc Hons, MSc, and/or PhD with experience in the Flow Assurance product range.
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting.
  • Experience managing day-to-day projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
Physical Demands:
  • A mix of office-based and standard lab-based work.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Product selection experience.
  • Experience writing technical papers as a co-author.
  • Relevant OPITO modules.
