Job summary

Alchem Partners Limited seeks a Buyer for a chemical manufacturing business in the UK. You will manage your own portfolio of raw materials and chemicals, plus packaging and indirect purchasing, influencing decisions and delivering cost savings.

The role is hands-on, with travel to suppliers across the UK as needed and collaboration with production, quality and technical teams. The ideal candidate will have proven buying experience in a process industry, preferably chemicals, be CIPS-qualified or

Qualifications

Experience in buying/procurement within manufacturing, ideally chemicals or a process industry.
Sourcing and negotiating raw materials, chemicals, packaging and indirect requirements.
Strong negotiation skills and ability to build supplier relationships.
Experience with packaging compliance and supplier declarations is useful.
Willing to travel to suppliers across the UK as required.

Responsibilities

Manage your own portfolio of raw materials and chemicals, including packaging and indirect purchasing.
Lead on supplier negotiations, pricing terms, lead times and continuity of supply.
Identify alternative suppliers and opportunities to improve value and cost savings.
Resolve supplier non-conformances and drive corrective actions.
Collaborate with procurement manager and cross-functional teams across production, quality, and technical.
