Overview

Afton Chemical Ltd, a major independent supplier of lubricant and fuel additives to the oil industry and part of the worldwide NewMarket Corporation, are seeking a Chemical Technician to join our Analytical team at our EMEAI headquarters in Bracknell, Berkshire.

Role

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic team-player to join our Analytical team working in a quality-controlled laboratory environment providing analytical testing services in support of research and development. The role will involve running the techniques listed below as well as more industry specific methods:

  • Elemental Analysis
  • Acid, Base and Water Titrations
  • Density Measurements
  • Viscosity Measurements
  • Particle Counting
  • Flash Point Testing
Responsibilities
  • Maintain safe work practices and adhere to all safety regulations.
  • Run laboratory testing accurately and precisely using established test methods.
  • Communication of results to internal customers.
  • Manage multiple test queues.
  • Carry out calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of the laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain work area in a neat, clean, and safe condition.
  • Maintain technical knowledge through training.
  • Ensure that ISO procedures and documentation is maintained.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A higher education qualification in Chemistry or related field or relevant industry experience.
  • To make safety a priority.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A passion for problem solving and delivering results.
  • Willingness to take initiative where required and work pro-actively to achieve team goals.
Experience In Any Of The Following Would Be Advantageous
  • Working within a laboratory environment, preferably in automotive, fuels or lubricant testing.
  • Experience performing the above tests.
