Job summary

University of Salford (Personnel) is seeking a Technician (Chemical Sciences) to join the technical team supporting laboratory teaching and project activity. The role requires practical wet chemistry experience and a good grounding in Chemical Sciences, with emphasis on chemical handling, storage, reagent preparation and safe practices.

Qualifications

• This is a hands‑on role for someone with practical experience in chemical, analytical, environmental or general wet chemistry laboratories.

Responsibilities

• Prepare chemicals, reagents, solutions, materials and equipment for practical teaching and project activities.
• Prepare allocated laboratory activities, ensuring materials and equipment are ready and suitable for use.
• Operate and maintain general laboratory equipment, carrying out routine checks and troubleshooting faults where appropriate.
• Support safe laboratory operation, including chemical handling and storage, waste management and relevant laboratory documentation.
• Work collaboratively with academics, technicians, students and other laboratory users, supporting activity across the wider technical service when required.
