Job description

Chemical / Mechanical Operator

Location: Hampshire, UK

Role Overview

We’re seeking a proactive and safety-conscious Chemical / Mechanical Operator to support daily operations at our Hampshire facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring plant processes, performing fault diagnosis, and maintaining safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operations across multiple sectors.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance

  • Detect and respond to abnormal plant conditions using analytical problem-solving in coordination with the Supervisor.

  • Conduct detailed fault-finding and log maintenance issues into the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

  • Maintain plant operational logs, daily reports, and production records, including tanker documentation.

Shift & Site Support

  • Execute thorough shift handovers (written and verbal) to ensure continuity in plant performance and safety.

  • Carry out general housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and tidy working environment both indoors and outdoors.

Safety & Compliance

  • Supervise the Permit to Work system (especially on remote sites) and ensure all work activities comply with safety procedures.

  • Monitor ongoing work to ensure safe practices, proper PPE usage, and environmental controls are adhered to.

  • Support emergency response procedures and maintain adherence to the company’s HSE management system.

Continuous Improvement & Culture

  • Actively support and promote a strong safety, health, and environmental culture.

  • Participate in HSE initiatives, audits, and communication efforts.

  • Report substandard conditions and contribute improvement suggestions to enhance overall operational performance.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • GCSE-level education (or equivalent)

  • Competent IT skills

  • Valid UK driving licence

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Desirable:

  • NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil & Gas Operational Safety

  • Previous operational or maintenance experience in Oil & Gas or related sectors
