Job summary

EMBL-EBI’s ChEMBL team seeks a Scientist to curate bioactivity data, ensuring high-quality records for the ChEMBL database. You will collaborate with chemoinformatics and data teams to map literature data to proteins, cell-lines and other entities, and help integrate ChEMBL data across EMBL-EBI resources.

You will work with data depositors to format submissions, develop semi-automated quality checks, and contribute to publications.

Qualifications

• PhD (or equivalent) in a biological or biomedical science.
• Excellent knowledge of pharmacology, potential biological targets and mechanisms of drug action.
• Experience with in vitro and in vivo assay data.
• Ability to work accurately and quickly to deadlines.
• Able to work both as part of a team and independently.

Responsibilities

• Curate bioactivity data in the ChEMBL database to ensure high-quality records.
• Map measured bioactivity data from literature to proteins, cell-lines and other entities.
• Collaborate with EMBL-EBI teams to integrate ChEMBL data across resources.
• Identify new data types and annotations to meet community needs.
• Identify and validate potential therapeutic targets of drug molecules from multiple sources.
• Work with data depositors to format submissions for deposition in ChEMBL.
• Manually check data against original sources and train/assist external users.
• Develop semi-automated processes to detect and correct data issues.
• Publish project outcomes in peer-reviewed literature.
