Job summary

EMBL-EBI's Chemical Biology Resources Team seeks a Scientist to curate bioactivity and drug discovery data for the ChEMBL database in Cambridge. You will work with chemoinformatics and bioinformatics colleagues to ensure high-quality curation and integration with other EMBL-EBI resources.

You will map bioactivity data to biological entities, explore new data types, and support external users while contributing to peer-reviewed publications.

Qualifications

• PhD in biological or biomedical science.
• Excellent knowledge of pharmacology, targets and drug action.
• Ability to curate data with attention to detail and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Curate bioactivity data in the ChEMBL database to ensure high quality.
• Map measured bioactivity data to proteins and cell lines using ontologies.
• Collaborate with EMBL-EBI teams to integrate ChEMBL data across resources.
• Identify new data types and annotations to serve the community.
• Identify and validate potential therapeutic targets from diverse sources.
• Work with data depositors to format data for deposition into ChEMBL.
• Manually check data against original sources and literature.
• Develop semi-automated processes to correct erroneous data.
• Train and provide external user support; publish project outcomes.
