Job summary

Greenmeadow Community Farm is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Fixed Term Chef to support a busy, multi-outlet operation including Farmshop, Café Restaurant, Barista Coffee Bar and Concessions. The role is part-time (24 hours per week) with an ASAP start and overtime available.

The successful candidate will join a growing, family-friendly venue that offers free meals, training, and Perkbox discounts. Weekend work is essential, with shifts focused on the busiest trading days.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Chef, Commis Chef, or Chef de Partie in a busy kitchen.
  • Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and allergen control.
  • Reliable, organised, and a strong team player.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends; 24 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Support Head Chef in delivering culinary vision across all food outlets.
  • Supervise kitchen staff and maintain high standards of food quality and hygiene.
  • Manage daily kitchen operations including prep, stock rotation, and allergen control.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house and events teams for smooth service.

Part-time: 24 hours per week (must be flexible for weekends and peak times) Overtime available

We’re looking for a reliable, enthusiastic Chef to support our kitchen team during our busiest trading days, helping deliver a high-quality food experience across our diverse operation.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities – Chef

As Chef, you’ll play a vital role in launching and supporting the leadership of a vibrant, multi-outlet kitchen operation at one of the region’s most exciting new destinations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the Head Chef in delivering the culinary vision across the Farmshop, Café Restaurant, Barista Coffee Bar, Playbarn Café, Concessions, and Events & Hospitality spaces
  • Supervising and mentoring kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of food quality, safety, and hygiene are maintained at all times
  • Managing daily kitchen operations, including food prep, stock rotation, allergen control, and assisting with supplier coordination
  • Working closely with front-of-house and events teams to ensure smooth service for school visits, weddings, seasonal events, and private functions
  • Maintaining consistency and efficiency across a logistically varied site, ensuring timely and high-quality food delivery
  • Upholding food safety and hygiene standards, including compliance with HACCP procedures
  • Contributing to menu development, bringing creativity and seasonal inspiration to the table
  • Driving continuous improvement, offering ideas and feedback to enhance the food offering and kitchen operations
Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience as aSous CheforSenior Chef de Partiein ahigh-volume, quality-focused environment
  • A strong background inwedding and event catering—you know how to deliver under pressure and support seamless execution
  • A track record ofsupporting, training, and motivating kitchen teamsto maintain consistently high standards
  • Financial awareness, with experience in food cost control, GP targets, stock management, and supplier coordination
  • Excellentcoaching and delegation skills—you lead by example and support the Head Chef in developing the team
  • Highlyorganised, detail-oriented, and calm under pressure, especially during peak service
  • Anempathetic and effective communicatorwith a collaborative, solution-focused mindset
  • Strongmenu execution, planning, and problem-solvingabilities
  • Able towork school holidaysweekends and evenings as required by the operation
