Location: Lakeland Arts, Windermere Jetty Museum

Reports to: Head Chef Contract:

Permanent, 37.5 hours per week (5 days over 7, with weekend work)

Salary: £26,000 Per Annum

Role Purpose

The Chef role will play a part within the kitchen team and assist in the day-to-day running of the kitchen. This individual will be delivering a high-quality standard of food preparation and service as well as maintaining optimum kitchen cleanliness. We are looking for a candidate who is keen to improve their skills and develop within our supportive kitchen team.

Key Responsibilities

1. Food standards

– Ensure a high quality of food preparation and service at all times.

– Maintaining consistency, quality control and core standards throughout menu offering.

2. Functions

– To assist in delivering catering offer of in-house functions.

3. Hygiene and kitchen cleanliness

– To ensure existing standards of hygiene in the kitchen are maintained.

– Assist in maintaining accurate records, including temperature checks, cleaning schedules, and allergen information.

4. Teamworking

– The ability to work effectively within a team.

– To effectively and appropriately communicate with team members and front of house.

Person Specification

Essential Skills and Experience

· Minimum of 2 years working in a professional kitchen environment

· Experience delivering a high-quality standard of food preparation and service

· Ability to work well under pressure and maintain standards in a fast-paced environment

· Knowledge of food hygiene standards

· Understanding the importance of food allergens

Desirable Skills and Experience

· Experience of running a section within a kitchen

· An understanding of kitchen cleanliness and personal hygiene

· NVQ Level 2 basic food preparation and cooking

· An understanding of stock rotation and its importance
