Job description

Nestled amongst the beautiful woodlands of Feock on the outskirts of Truro, The Punchbowl and Ladle is a vibrant, yet cosy pub - a place where everybody would like to spend their day off! It’s a perfect spot for an after-work drink and snack, a relaxed Sunday roast with family, a light lunch for walkers and their dogs, or a mid-morning coffee with friends.

Our traditional Cornish pub has a rich history dating back to the 15th century, playing a key part in the stories of travellers, mariners, and locals. If these walls could talk, they would tell tales of smugglers storing contraband and passing travellers seeking a safe harbour.

Today, we welcome both locals and visitors. After a recent refurbishment, The Punchbowl & Ladle has been transformed into a bright, vibrant space that balances modern renovation with traditional decor, preserving the building’s original charm.

We are looking for an ambitious Chef with experience in a fast-paced environment to join our talented kitchen team. You will work alongside passionate colleagues, using locally sourced produce to create quality dishes that delight our guests. As part of the team, you will ensure all procedures and specifications are precisely followed.

What we offer:

  • 30% off food and drink, and 50% off overnight stays in our pubs
  • £150 towards a stay in one of our pubs
  • Discount scheme across hundreds of retailers
  • Great training and opportunities to progress
  • Meal provided for shifts over 6 hours (up to £10 value)
  • Family-friendly, flexible working
  • Paid time off to volunteer

Our Chefs:

  • Are well-organised, adaptable, and passionate about their work
  • Take pride in delivering high-quality, consistent food
  • Have great product knowledge and an understanding of daily kitchen operations

We’d love you to join our family!
