A prestigious boarding school in Hook is seeking an Evening Chef to support the Executive Chef. The role involves preparing high-standard home-cooked meals for students, with a focus on fresh ingredients and excellent customer service. A co-educational private day and boarding school located in Hampshire, catering to 800 pupils and teachers from nursery to 18 years old. The school offers a core menu including breakfast, lunch, supper, morning snack, and afternoon snack. Hospitality services are a significant part of this location.
This is a term-time only contract working 38 weeks per year; for the nursery, operation is 52 weeks. The role involves a 7-day operation with a working pattern of 5 days out of 7. An additional benefit is free on-site parking.
We are seeking a talented Evening Chef to join our team at our prestigious location in Hook.
Responsibilities include supporting the Executive/Head Chef in preparation and service (lunch) for students daily, and preparing/cooking/serving approximately 40 boarding students each evening.
The ideal candidate will be able to cook and present high-standard home-cooked food, possess excellent customer service skills, be confident in closing down the kitchen at the end of shifts, and complete mandatory paperwork.
Working hours are from 10:30 am to 7:00 pm (Monday to Friday). When working weekends, you will have two days off during the week. Previous experience in a fast-paced kitchen at CDP or Junior Sous Chef level is required.
This is a boarding school open during weekends; therefore, 5/7 days work is required, including some weekend shifts (2 out of 6 weekends every 6 weeks). During half-term when the school is closed, you will not be required to work. This schedule covers approximately 15 weeks per year.
You will enjoy working with fresh seasonal ingredients and regularly changing bespoke menus, providing an opportunity to showcase your culinary skills.
