Chef De Partie Hook
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: £26,923.20
Hours: 40 per week

A co-educational private day and boarding school located in Hampshire, catering for 800 pupils and teachers from nursery to 18 years. We offer breakfast, lunch, supper, morning snack, and afternoon snack. The location has a significant hospitality component. This is a term-time only contract working 38 weeks a year, with nursery operation year-round (52 weeks). The operation runs 7 days a week, with a shift pattern of 5 days out of 7. Free on-site parking is available.

We are seeking a talented Evening Chef to join our team at our prestigious location in Hook.

Responsibilities include supporting the Exec/Head Chef in preparing and serving lunch daily, and preparing/cooking/serving dinner for approximately 40 boarding students each evening.

The ideal candidate will be able to cook and present high-standard, home-cooked food, possess excellent customer service skills, and be confident in closing down the kitchen at the end of shifts and completing mandatory paperwork.

Shift hours are 10.30 am to 7.00 pm, Monday to Friday, with some weekends (2 out of 6 weekends every 6 weeks) required, especially during half-term when the school is closed (no work during these weeks). Weekend shifts are part of a 15-week schedule annually.

You should have previous experience working in a fast-paced kitchen at CDP or junior sous chef level.

This is a boarding school, so weekend work is necessary. During school holidays, when the school is closed, you will not be required to work.

You will enjoy working with fresh, seasonal ingredients and regularly changing bespoke menus, providing opportunities to showcase your skills and creativity.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work effectively within a team of chefs to provide catering services to pupils and staff.
  • Produce food using fresh ingredients, from scratch, adhering to brand standards.
  • Ensure food standards are maintained and wastage is controlled.
  • Follow all Food Hygiene, Health & Safety policies, and allergen control procedures.

Knowledge/competencies:

  • Good verbal English skills.
