Join our team as a Kitchen Assistant/Cook in our Residential Care Home, where you will play a crucial role in providing nutritious and delicious meals to our service users. As a Kitchen Assistant/Cook, you will be responsible for preparing menus, ordering supplies, and ensuring the smooth operation of our catering service.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Service Users and the manager to design menus that align with individual preferences, special dietary requirements, and nutritional needs.
Prepare and oversee the creation of meals, ensuring excellent taste, presentation, and adherence to hygiene standards.
Take full responsibility for ordering supplies and maintaining cost control measures to ensure efficient use of resources.
Implement and manage an advanced stock control system to effectively oversee kitchen inventory.
Operate and maintain kitchen equipment with precision and care, adhering to supplier instructions and training guidelines.
Regularly inspect and ensure all kitchen equipment is in excellent working order, reporting any faults promptly. Remove unsafe equipment from service as necessary.
Provide leadership and training to kitchen staff, promoting teamwork and high standards of service.
Promote and safeguard the welfare of service users, ensuring their well-being is at the forefront of all culinary operations.
Continuously pursue professional development opportunities by engaging in performance reviews and attending relevant training sessions.

Requirements:

Significant experience in a similar role, ideally within a care home or catering environment.
Advanced knowledge of nutrition and dietary needs, including special diets.
Proven culinary expertise with the ability to deliver meals of the highest standard.
Strong organisational and leadership skills to manage supplies, orders, and kitchen staff effectively.
Comprehensive knowledge of kitchen equipment operation and maintenance.
Dedication to the welfare and well-being of service users.
