Job summary

Langford Park Care Home in Exeter is seeking an experienced Chef/Cook to run the kitchen for our residents. You will design and prepare a varied, nourishing menu and oversee mealtimes to ensure high-quality dining experiences.

We expect hands-on leadership of the kitchen team, knowledge of dietary requirements, and flexible work including alternate weekends. The role includes a DBS check and opportunities for professional development within a caring environment.

Qualifications

• Recent experience cooking for large numbers in a commercial setting.
• Experience in leading and motivating a catering team.
• Experience providing food for people with special dietary requirements.
• Flexible and able to work alternate weekends.
• An enhanced DBS check is required.

Responsibilities

• Designing a varied, nourishing menu reflecting residents' tastes and nutritional needs.
• Running the nursing home kitchen and ensuring high-quality mealtimes.
• Maintaining high food standards and safety/hygiene.
• Training and directing the kitchen team; mentoring staff.
• Assisting with budgetary, human and material resources in the department.

Who We Are Looking For

• You should have recent experience of cooking for large numbers in a commercial setting.
• You must have previously managed and motivated a catering team.
• You’ll have experience of providing food for people with special dietary requirements.

How You’ll Make a Difference

You’ll be responsible for our residents’ meal experience and running the nursing home’s kitchen. Leading and supporting a team, you will:

• Designing a varied menu that reflects our residents’ tastes and supports their nutritional needs.
• Ensuring mealtimes are always a high-quality experience.
• Maintaining the highest food standards.
• Supporting, training and directing the kitchen team
• Mentoring and motivating on quality, safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards.
• Assisting the General Manager in developing and managing the budgetary, human and material resources within the department.
