At ARC we embrace diversity, we develop our people, we care for our visitors, we think about our impact and we are proud of our sport.

Who is Doncaster Racecourse?

Doncaster Racecourse isn’t just about horse racing – though we’re proud to be home to the world’s oldest classic race, the St. Leger! We're a vibrant, year-round venue that welcomes over 500,000 guests annually to a packed calendar of events – from race days and weddings to conferences, craft fairs, boxing matches, car shows, and much more.

What’s it like in the kitchen?
No two days are the same – and that’s exactly how we like it. One day you might be prepping breakfast rolls for an early morning meeting, the next you’re plating up a three-course meal or helping serve 1,000 hungry guests during a big race day. And when St. Leger Festival rolls around? That’s when the real magic happens – we’re talking full fine dining menus (up to 7 course menus!) and top-tier service.

Tasks for the role include:

  • Prepping ingredients for a variety of menus (from buffets to banquets)
  • Cooking and plating dishes to spec, whether it's for 20 or 1,000 guests
  • Maintaining high standards of food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness
  • Assisting with stock checks and kitchen organisation
  • Working closely with the wider kitchen team to keep service running smoothly
  • Pitching in during events – sometimes it's fast-paced, but always rewarding

The person we are looking for as casual Chef has….

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a professional kitchen environment
  • Ability to produce good quality of food
  • Good understanding of IT systems and purchasing systems
  • Good teamwork skills
  • Works well under pressure
  • High level of attention to detail

Once you have registered your interest, we will contact you in advance to offer you department based shifts at racedays or hospitality functions. There are usually a range of shifts available and opportunities for work are based on busy seasons and the annual racing calendar. Positions will be allocated on the day as part of the briefing.
