Job summary

Marie Curie is seeking a compassionate Chef to join the Facilities team at Cardiff and the Vale Hospice. The role is permanent, full-time (37.5 hours per week) with shift patterns 7am-3pm or 11am-7pm, based in Cardiff.

You will prepare nutritious meals for patients, visitors and staff, contributing to a warm, supportive hospice environment. The ideal candidate will have NVQ Level 2 in Food Production and Cooking or City & Guilds equivalents, strong cooking skills, and a caring approach.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Food Production and Cooking required or equivalent City & Guilds.
• Strong cooking skills with ability to prepare varied, high-quality menus.
• Experience in catering environments; healthcare experience welcome but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritious, home-cooked meals for patients, visitors, volunteers and colleagues.
• Assist kitchen operations during shifts and take responsibility for duties.
• Support during periods of annual leave, sickness or increased service demand.

Job Description

We’re looking for a compassionate and motivated Chef to join our Facilities team on permanent basis, supporting our kitchen during periods of annual leave, sickness, or increased service demand. You’ll help prepare nutritious, home‑cooked meals for patients, visitors, volunteers, and colleagues contributing directly to the warm, supportive atmosphere our hospice is known for.

Salary:Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 3 (aligned with AFC) £26,300 - £27,890 per annum + Enhancements

Contract:Permanent, Full Time. 37.5 hours per week.

Shift pattern: 7am-3pm or 11am-7pm.

Based:Cardiff and the Vale Hospice.

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

• NVQ Level 2 in Food Production and Cooking(or equivalent City & Guilds 706/1 & 706/2) –essential requirement
• Strong cooking skills with the ability to prepare varied, high‑quality menus
• A caring, adaptable approach and excellent customer service
• Experience in catering environments; healthcare experience is welcome but not required
• Confidence working independently and taking responsibility for kitchen operations during shifts
