Job summary

Marie Curie is recruiting End of Life Care Healthcare Assistants in South Devon for a Band 2 role. 22:00–07:00 night shifts; part-time or full-time (min 18 hours/week). Salary £25,272 per annum, in line with AFC plus enhancements and Marie Curie benefits.

You will work in community teams, planning care, supporting patients and families with compassion and professionalism. You’ll need NVQ2 in Health & Social Care or equivalent, a valid driving licence, and strong knowledge of palliative care;

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
• Driving licence with vehicle access and business insurance.
• Knowledge of palliative and end-of-life care.
• Ability to hold person-centred conversations with patients and families.
• Participate in assessment, care planning and evaluation within the MDT.
• Undertake risk assessments to support safe delivery of care.

Responsibilities

• Plan own work in community settings and respond to changing patient needs.
• Prioritise care tasks (hygiene, nutrition, hydration, comfort, vitals).
• Escalate to senior staff within the multidisciplinary team as required.

The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life.Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives.

We're currently recruiting multiple Band 2 End of Life Care Healthcare Assistants to join our well-established community team across Devon. Hours:22:00pm – 07:00am night shift

Contract:Part-time or Full-time will be considered (minimum of 18 hours per week)

Salary:Band 2 £25,272 per annum, in line with NHS Agenda for Change (AFC) + enhancements and Marie Curie employee benefits package

As these are community-based roles, you will be responsible for planning your own work, responding to changes in patient conditions, prioritising care needs (including hygiene, nutrition and hydration, comfort, monitoring vitals, and more) as detailed in the personalised care plan and ensuring you escape appropriately to senior staff within the multidisciplinary team in a timely manner.

• National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 in Health and Social Care OR an equivalent
• Hold a current and valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle which includes business insurance
• Knowledge of palliative and end of life care.
• Hold person centred conversations, Communicate sensitively with the person and those important to them in a nonjudgmental, empathetic, supportive, and professional manner.
• Participate in the assessment, care planning, review and evaluation of holistic care management plans within the multidisciplinary team.
• Undertake risk assessments to support safe delivery of care.
