Hours: Full time 37.5 hours per week

St Andrew’s Birmingham is a 118-bedded adult mental healthcare facility comprising eight units that cover medium and low security for both men and women. Located in Stirchley, a vibrant area in South Birmingham, it is easily accessible by road networks and public transport.

We require an experienced chef for our Birmingham site. You will be expected to work as part of a multifunctional team to prepare high-quality hot and cold food for lunch and dinner, working to strict deadlines while complying with health & safety and food safety regulations.

You must also:

  • Hold a current food hygiene certificate and relevant certificate in Food Production within Hospitality and Catering or equivalent.
  • Have proven work experience as a Chef or Cook.
  • Be passionate about food and service.
  • Have hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment (e.g., grillers and pasta makers).
  • Be able to work closely with Dieticians to establish the required textured foods.
  • Interface effectively with service users, staff, and visitors.
  • Deliver exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Be capable of ordering food and using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Be fully conversant with food hygiene legislation and HACCP.
  • Maintain high standards of day-to-day cleanliness and food safety requirements.

You will need a flexible approach to working hours and demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills, exhibiting attitudes and behaviours reflective of St Andrew’s care values.
