Job description

A respected educational institution in Basingstoke is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Cook to join its in-house catering team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a culinary professional who takes pride in creating wholesome, nutritious meals and enjoys working in a structured, daytime setting.

  • Prepare and cook daily meals for students and staff in line with planned menus and dietary guidelines.
  • Ensure high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety throughout the kitchen.
  • Assist in planning menus and contribute fresh ideas for meal improvements.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to deliver smooth and efficient service.
  • Previous experience in a similar cook or chef role, ideally in an educational or contract catering setting.
  • Strong understanding of food hygiene practices (Level 2 Food Safety certification preferred).
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and manage prep during service times.
  • A friendly, team-focused attitude with a genuine passion for good food.
  • Salary between £29,000-£30,000, based on experience.
  • Daytime hours, Monday to Friday, with limited evening or weekend shifts.
  • A warm, welcoming workplace within a collegiate environment.
