Job summary

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a Bank Chef to support our kitchens with fresh seasonal menus and high hospitality standards. You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome dishes while tailoring menus to residents’ needs and ensuring a warm, welcoming environment.

We value a personable approach, solid nutrition knowledge, and the ability to lead a team, delivering quality cooking without long shifts. This role offers flexible, part-time hours and work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Experience with fresh seasonal food and creating nutritious menus.
• Ability to lead and inspire a kitchen team in a care setting.
• Solid understanding of nutrition and portion control.
• Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards.
• Customer-focused approach to resident wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Chef in managing the kitchen in their absence.
• Prepare high quality dishes using fresh produce.
• Create warm, efficient and welcoming kitchen environment.
• Work to budget and control costs.
• Carry out regular stock checks and audits.
• Lead and motivate kitchen team to deliver hospitality standards.

Are you a qualified chef looking to work with fresh seasonal food, with the opportunity to have more of a work life balance and make what you do matter?

This is a casual, part-time role offering flexible working. Working as a Bank Chef at Barchester, you will have the chance to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long weeks. You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well balanced menus whilst working with residents to tailor menus around them. NEED TO HAVE

• A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
• Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent
• Experience in helping lead and inspire a team
• A good understanding of nutrition
• Experience of working with fresh seasonal food
• The ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within our home
• Good understanding of HACCP
