Job description

Temporary Cook

Location: Perth, PH1
Pay Rate: £14.55 per hour
Hours per Week: 22.5 or 30
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 6–8 weeks initially, with potential 2-week extensions thereafter

Are you an experienced cook with a strong understanding of food hygiene and nutrition? We are currently recruiting a Temporary Cook on behalf of our third-party client for an immediate start.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation, cooking, and service of a wide range of dishes, including therapeutic and modified diets for patients, staff, visitors, and functions
  • Ensure that agreed standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and service quality are consistently met and monitored
  • Maintain accurate records in line with departmental and regulatory requirements
  • Follow standard recipes to meet nutritional guidelines, including fluid and food consistency adaptations for special diets
  • Report equipment faults or hazards to appropriate personnel or directly to the Estates Fault Line
  • Work collaboratively with Head/Assistant Head Cooks, supervisors, and clinical staff to meet service delivery needs

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in a commercial or healthcare kitchen environment
  • Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards (e.g. HACCP, COSHH)
  • Ability to prepare meals in line with therapeutic and dietary requirements
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Competent in record keeping, stock control, and cleanliness procedures
  • Team player with a positive and proactive attitude
  • Knowledge of modified texture diets and nutritional standards is desirable
